MUSIC, DANCE, AND FOOD:

Lowell Five Main Stage at the The National Park Visitors Center

5:00-8:30pm  River Ambassador Program RAP students will present traditional Cambodian games, crafts, and goodie bags. The Revolving Museum's Vanguardian Arts Teen Arts Group, will be elaborating paper lotus flowers, fans and mask inspired by traditional Cambodian/South East Asian Folk Dance and Theater.

5:30-6:30pm  Arn Chorn Pond and Sophy Him: music & conversation on Cambodia, life and the healing power of art through upcoming rock opera, Where Elephants Weep.

6:30-7:00pm  East coast premiere of the short film, The Golden Voice. During the Khmer Rouge regime, artist and intellectuals were targeted for execution, forcing female music star Ros Sereysothea to conceal her identity.  Writer/Director Greg Cahill uncovered the story through research and interviews.

7:00-7:30pm  Filmmaker talk and discussion about The Golden Voice. 

7:30-8:15pm  Be enchanted by Angkor Dance Troupe's incredible performance.

8:15-8:40pm  Shadow Worlds Program.  Lowell filmmaker-photographer Jim Higgins' trilogy consists of three stop-action experimental films and live dance performances. In the three films (Ephemera, The Soul Collector and The Other Lover) the theme of struggle-with peer pressure, gangs, addiction, or alienation-and dark and light aspects of the human spirit is played out through dance and enchanting visual effects.

8:40-9:00pm   Join us for a live demonstration of the beautiful movements and dances seen in the Shawdow Worlds Program.

ART AND CULTURE around Town: (5-10pm)

Meet the Cast and Crew from the upcoming Cambodian American Opera "Where Elephants Weep" at Caffe Paradiso from 9-10pm and listen to Cambodian Rock sensation group Bad Boys.

  7:00-9:30pm  Lowell Poetry Open Mic and Slam hosted by Brew'd Awakenings.  Come hear the liveliest and most invigorating poetry around while sipping on a piping hot cafe latte.  A prize will be awarded for the winner of the poetry slam!!!
